Killer fratman leaves PH

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Manila confirmed on Thursday that one of the suspects in the death of University of Santo Tomas law freshman Horacio Castillo III due to alleged hazing has left the country for Taipei, Taiwan.
“A certain Ralph Caballes Trangia (DOB 10 Nov 95) departed 19 Sept. 2017 on board Eva Air flight BR262 bound for Taipei,” said BI Spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang.
Trangia, along with 15 other members of the Aegis Juris fraternity, was included in the immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday.

PH leader: Criminals have no humanity

PHILIPPINE President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday said criminals have no humanity.
The President made the statement during an interview in Cebu City in response to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) which said drug-related killings may be considered crimes against humanity.
“If you kill criminals, it is not a crime against humanity. The criminals have no humanity,” Duterte said after the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway.
He likewise said those who were killed in legitimate government operations were the ones who fought back against law enforcers.

PH senator’s safety assured

SECRETARY Ismael Sueno of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Dir. Gen. Ronald dela Rosa, to ensure the safety of Senator Leila de Lima at the police headquarters.
According to a statement from the department, Sueno gave Dela Rosa clear instructions after certain groups expressed fear for the senator’s safety.
“Senator de Lima’s security and safety is also our concern and so we would like to assure everyone that she will be treated in accordance with established procedures and existing laws,” the DILG chief said.
The department said Sueno ordered Dela Rosa to ensure that members of the PNP will give courtesy to the senator.
De Lima was arrested on drug trafficking charges in her Senate office by PNP Central Intelligence and Detection Group personnel Friday morning.

Drug raps send PH senator to jail

PHILIPPINE Senator Leila de Lima voluntarily surrendered to members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday morning after a Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge ordered her arrest Thursday afternoon.
Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero ordered De Lima’s arrest after it cited probable cause for charges against the senator, accused to have abetted the illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) while she was justice secretary from 2010 to 2015.

Political drama vs PH president

THE demolition job against President Duterte continues and the press conference of self-confessed hitman SPO3 Arthur Lascanas is part of a protracted political drama aimed to destroy the President and to topple his administration.
This was the statement Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Martin Andanar Monday.
“Our people are aware that this character assassination is nothing but vicious politics orchestrated by sectors affected by the reforms initiated by the Duterte administration,” Andanar said in a statement.

Manila reports 57 Zika cases

THE Department of Health (DOH) in Manila said Friday a total of 57 Zika cases have been reported in the country from January last year until last February 2.
It said 38 of the cases (67 percent) were female and 19 (33 percent) were male. The victims’ ages ranged from 7 years to 59 years.
No death has so far been reported.
Some 20 cases (35 percent) were from the National Capital Region; 18 (32 percent) from Calabarzon; 15 (26 percent) from Western Visayas; and two (4 percent) each from Central Luzon and Central Visayas.

PH to start all-out war vs Reds

DEFENSE Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Tuesday said there will be an all-out war against the New People’s Army (NPA) following President Rodrigo Duterte’s call for the scrapping of peace talks between the Philippine government and the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
Lorenzana made the announcement in a press briefing in Malacanang.
The official, however, clarified that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will only go after the armed component of the movement and stay out of the way of the groups supportive of the revolutionaries.
“It is an all-out war kasi (because) they are considered by the President already as terrorists. We also consider them as terrorists,” Lorenzana said.

PH official: No whitewash in Korean slay

THE People’s Palace (Malacanang) on Sunday expressed resentment over the abduction and slay of Hanjin executive Jee Ick Joo inside the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame.
“We are outraged by the abduction and slay of a South Korean executive inside Camp Crame,” presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a text message to Palace reporters.
The Palace official assured that there will be no whitewash in the investigation of Jee’s killing reportedly involving rogue cops.

PH leader’s expression of anger

PHILIPPINE President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement on the declaration of martial law only seeks to show his anger over the illegal drugs trade in the country, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Monday said.
“It is an angry expression of the President and the public and the media should not be surprised but rather be already accustomed to the mindset of the President,” Aguirre said.
